Our team is made up of experts in a range of construction and concreting disciplines who share a passion for quality. Together, we deliver practical, creative and trade-quality concreting solutions for residential and industrial projects, from concrete driveways or building foundations according to local council requirements.
Founded in 2003 by licensed building practitioner, Justin Mcilroy, Planet Concrete is led by long-term business partners, Managing Director Michael Homik and Director Austen Clarke.
In good hands with a certified industry expert
Now Planet Concrete’s General Manager, Justin is a seasoned professional in the concrete industry with 22 years of active working experience in New Zealand. During his career, Justin developed a set of unique concrete products ideally suited to weather the harsh conditions of our local climate. His blended oxides and sealers, and personalised concrete systems Stonecrete and PC Crete, are what we use to deliver Planet Concrete’s trademark high-quality concrete solutions.
OUR STORY
Justin Mcilroy founded Planet Concrete in 2003. Already an experienced concreter and certified building professional, he became a New Zealand Master Concrete Placers Association member and continued to hone his skills and knowledge over the following years.
The passion for quality workmanship that Justin developed now characterises everything we do at Planet Concrete. Making mistakes in concrete laying is costly and time-consuming, so with us, there’s no room for error.
Over the years, Justin has serviced countless clients in the Auckland area, and forged strong relationships with leading Auckland house builders who still contract our services regularly.
After working tirelessly to lead Planet Concrete to a long and successful future for 22 years, Justin sought to tip the scales of his work-life balance. Justin decided to sell his successful company whilst still working and overseeing the business. Mike Homik and Austen Clarke, of homegrown property development and construction company, Clarke Group, bought the business, and Justin continues to manage the day-to-day operations as General Manager.
Planet Concrete became part of Planet Group of companies, enhancing its capabilities with full back office support, including dedicated accounting, sales and estimating capabilities in house.
This thriving suite of subsidiaries also includes Planet Gates and Fences and Planet Powder Coat.
